Singapore Zoological Gardens Photo Album
The Singapore Zoological Gardens (or simply The Zoo) is rated among the world's most spectacular zoos, mainly due to its “"open zoo” concept. The use of natural barriers like streams, rock walls and vegetation to separate animals from visitors enhances the experience. Spread over 28 hectares, the Zoo has over 3,600 mammals, birds and reptiles, including rare and endangered species. The Zoo's orang utan breeding programme has met with great success, as has the breeding of other species such as the tiger, lion, white rhino, proboscis monkey, komodo dragon, polar bear and sealion.
Landscaped to replicate some of the animals’ natural habitat, the Zoo continually adds to its community, enhancing existing areas or developing new ones. The latest is the Elephants of Asia section.
A regular tram service takes visitors around the whole zoo. The taped commentary
ensures no one misses the highlights of the exhibits. However, to fully appreciate the zoo, walking is recommended.
Animal show and feeding times present good opportunities to get a close-up view of the animals. Another popular attraction is breakfast with some of the animals such as the orang utan, Oriental small-clawed otter and reticulated python.
Open: 8.30am - 6pm (daily)
